Bhopal Police have arrested Vikas Jaiswal, also known as Avakesh, in Hyderabad for the murder of his friend Sandeep Prajapati. Jaiswal had been on the run since December 2024 and was found working as a truck driver under a false identity. His arrest follows a two-month-long investigation after Sandeep’s body was discovered in Delawadi forest, Sehore district.
Sandeep was reported missing on December 3, by his father, Suraj Prajapati. On the same day, Sandeep’s sister, Vandana, received a phone call from Jaiswal demanding ₹1 lakh for Sandeep’s release. She recorded the call and informed the police. A case was registered under sections 140(2) and 140(3) of the BNS. Four days later, Sandeep’s body was found, leading to a full-scale investigation. A reward of ₹30,000 was announced for information on Jaiswal’s whereabouts.
During interrogation, Jaiswal revealed that he, along with his associates Utkarsh Chaudhary and Adarsh Chaudhary, had planned the murder because Sandeep opposed his proposal to marry Vandana. They kidnapped Sandeep, took him to the forest, and killed him before making the ransom call to mislead authorities.
Further investigation uncovered that Jaiswal had used multiple identities and had been married five times while maintaining relationships with several women across different states. Police are now interrogating Jaiswal’s wives and associates to gather more details. His accomplices, Utkarsh and Adarsh Chaudhary, are under investigation. Authorities are verifying his past criminal records and tracking his movements during the months he was absconding.
